Mahdi is from the Holy Prophet of Islam (pbuh)

There is a rich treasure of several thousands of traditions about the Mahdi which can be found in both Shiite and Sunni books of reference. Of these, there are several traditions which highlight that the Mahdi is from the progeny of the Holy Prophet of Islam (pbuh), is from the lineage of Fatemah, the daughter of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and from the Ahlul Bayt (as), the household of the Prophet of Islam (pbuh).

For example, see these traditions,

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Mahdi is from me having broad forehead, prominent nose and will fill the earth with equity and justice as it will be filled with injustice. He will rule for 7 years.

حدثنا سهل بن تمام بن بزيع، ثنا عمران القطان، عن قتادة، عن أبي نضرة، عن أبي سعيد الخدري، قال: قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه و سلم: المهدي مني أجلي الجبهة، أقني الأنف، يملأ الأرض قسطا وعدلا كما ملئت جورا وظلما، يملك سبع سنين

Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Mahdi is from my progeny, his face is like full moon, his colour is that of Arabi ,his body is like Israeli , will fill the earth with justice like it would be filled with injustice . The inhabitants of the sky and the earth would be happy with his kingdom. He will rule for 20 years.

 حذيفة بن اليماني: المهدي رجل من ولدي، وجهه كالقمر الدري، اللون لون عربي، والجسم جسم اسرائيل، يملأ الارض عدلاً كما ملئت جواراً، يرضي بخلافته أهل السماء والأرض، والطير في الجو، يملك عشرين سنة

Imam Ali (ra) said Al Mahdi is from us, Ahlulbayt, Allah will set his affairs in 1 night.

علي بن أبي طالب: المهدي منا اهل البيت، يصلحه الله عزوجل في ليلة

Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, “How it would be when Isa Ibne Maryam will descend and your Imam would be from among you”.

يقول أبو هريرة: أقرءوا إن شتتم (4-159 وإن من أهل الكتاب إلا ليؤمنن به قبل موته) الآية: وفي أخري قال قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم: كيف انتم إذا نزل ابن مريم فيكم، وإمامكم منكم؟ وفي رواية فأمكم

Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, “If there remains only one day from this world, Allah (swt) will prolong that day to such an extent that Allah (swt) will raise a man from my progeny whose name will be similar to that of my name and he will fill the earth with justice and equity.

عن رسول الله صلي الله عليه وسلم قال: لولم بيق الدنيا الا يوم واحد لطول الله ذلك اليوم حتي يبعث الله قيه رجلا من امتي – أو من اهل بيتي – يواطئ اسمه اسمي، واسم ابيه اسم ابي، يملأ الأرض قسطا و عدلا، كما ملئت ظلما وجورا

Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Mahdi is from me having broad forehead and protracted nose.

قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه و سلم: المهدي مني أجلي الجبهة أقني الانف

In another tradition, the Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, The Hour (Qiyamat) will not be established until this world will not be filled with injustice and tyranny and a man from my progeny will rise and will fill the earth with justice and equity.

قال  قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه و سلم: لا تقوم الساعة حتي تملأ الارض ظلما وجورا وعدوانا ثم يخرد من اهل بيتي من يملأها قسطا وعدلا

Holy Prophet (pbuh) said If there remains nothing from this world except a night , a man will rule in it from my Ahlul Bayt.

حدثنا معاذ بن المثني ثنا مسدد ثنا ابو شهاب محمد بن ابراهيم الكناني ثنا عاصم بن بهدلة عن زر عن عبد الله قال قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه و سلم: لو لم يبق من الدنيا الا ليلة لملك فيها رجل من اهل بيت النبي صلي الله عليه و سلم

In another tradition, the Holy Prophet of Islam (pbuh) said, Mahdi is from my progeny, from the sons of Fatema.

 رسول الله صلي الله عليه و سلم: يقول المخدي من عترتي من ولد فاطمة
