Traditions from Al Bayan Fee Akhbaris Sahebazzaman
Ali Hilali narrates from his father – When I went to see Holy Prophet (pbuh), he was on his death bed. I saw that Hazrat Fatema (sa) was beside his bed and was crying loudly. Holy Prophet (pbuh) asked Hazrat Fatema (sa), “Oh my beloved! Why are you crying?” She replied, “I am crying because I will lose you.” The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said to her: O Fatemah! We Ahlebayt have been bestowed with 7 characteristics with which no one was bestowed before us and no one will be bestowed after us. I am the last of prophet and the best of creation in front of Allah. My successor is the best of all successors and the most beloved one of Allah and he is your husband. Our martyr is the best of all martyrs and beloved of Allah and he is Hamza ibne Abdul Muttalib, the uncle of your father and the uncle of your husband. And from us is the one who is bestowed with two wings with which he flies wherever he wills with the angels in Paradise and he is the son of the uncle of your father and the brother of your husband and from us are the chiefs of this nation and they are your sons, Hasan and Husain and they are the chiefs of the youth of Paradise and their father is better than both of them. Oh Fatemah!, by the one who raised me, surely from them is the Mahdi for this nation.
عن الهلال عن أبيه قال: دخلت علي رسول الله صلي الله عليه وآله في شكاته التي قبض فيها فاذا فاطمة عليها السلام عند رأسه قال: فبكت حتي ارتفع صوتها فرفع رسول الله صلي الله عليه وآله طرفه اليها فقال: حبيبي فاطمة ما الذي يبكيك؟ فقالت: أخشي الضيعة من بعدك فقال: يا حبيبي أما علمت أن الله تعالي اطلع إلي الأرض (علي الأرض) اطلاعة فاختار منها أباك فبعثه برسالته، ثم اطلع اطلاعة فاختار بعلك،وأوحي ألي أن أنكحك إياه، يا فاطمة و نحن أهل بيت قد أعطانا الله سبع خصال لم تعط أخدا قبلنا ةلا تعطي أحدا بعدنا، أنا خاتم النبيين وأكرم النبيين علي الله وأحب المخلوقين ألي الله وأنا أبوك، ووصيي خير الأوصياء وأخبهم إلي الله وهو بعلك (وشهيدنا خير الشهداء وأحبهم إلي الله عز وجل وهو حمزة بن عبد المطلب عم أبيك وعم بعلك). ومنا من له جناحان أخضران يكير في الجنة مع الملائكة حيث يشاء وهو اين عم أبيك وأخو بعلك، ومنا سبطا هذه الأمة وهما ابناك الحسن والحسين وهما سيدا شباب أهل الجنة. وأبوهماوالذي بعثي بالحقخير المنهما. يا فاطمة والذي بعثي بالحق أن منهما مهدي هذه الأمة

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, this world will not come to an end until a man will rule the Arabs whose name will be similar to my name.
قال رسول الله صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: لاتذهب الدنيا حتي يملك العرب رجل من أهل بيتي يواطي. اسمه اسمي

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, if there remains only a single day from the Hour (Qiyamat), Allah will raise a man from my Ahlul Bayt who will fill the world with justice as it will be filled with tyranny.”
عن النبي صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم قال: لو لم بيق من الدهر إلا يوم لبعث الله رجلاً من أهل بيتي يملأها عدلاً كما ملئت جورً

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, O Fatemah ! Our prophet is the best of all prophets and he is your father. Our martyr is the best of all martyrs and he is uncle of your father (Hamza). From us is the one who has two wings with which he flies anywhere in paradise and he is the son of your uncle (Jafar) and from us are the chiefs of this nation, Hasan and Husain, and they are your sons and from us is the Mahdi.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: لفاطمة (ع) نبينا خير الأنبياء وهو أبوك، وشهيدنا خير الشهداء وهو عم أبيك حمزة، و منا من له جناحان يطير بهما في الجنة حيث يشاء وهو ابن عم أبيك جعفر، ومنا سبطا هده الأمة الحسن والحسين وهما ابناك ومنا المهدي

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Al Mahdi is from my progeny and from the sons of Fatemah.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: المهدي من عترتي من ولد فاطمة

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Al Mahdi is from us Ahlulbayt. Allah will set his affairs in one night.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, We, the sons of Abdul Muttalib are the chiefs of people of paradise and they are I, Hamza, Ali, Jafar, Hasan, Husain and the Mahdi.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: نحن ولد عبد المطلب سادات أهل الجنة، أنا و حمزة، وعلي و جعفر و الحسن والحسين والمهدي

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, If you see the Mahdi, then pay allegiance (do bayat) to him even if you have to crawl on ice because he is the caliph of Allah.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: فاذا رأيتموه فبايعوه ولو حبوًا علي الثلج فانه خليفة الله المهدي

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, A group of people will come from the east and will prepare the ground for the reappearance of Imam Mahdi.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: يخرج ناس من المشرق فيوطئون للمهدي

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, The Mahdi is in my nation. He will live for 5, 7 or 9 years. A man will come and ask him: “Give me something”. The Mahdi will give him so much that he will not be able to carry it.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: إن في أمتي المهدي يخرج يعيش خمساً أو سبعاً أو تسعاً – زبد الشاك – قال:قلنا: وما ذاك؟ قال: سنين قال: فيجيء إليه الرجل فيقول يا مهدي اعطني قال: فيحي له في ثوبه ما أستطاع أن يحمله

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, a severe calamity will befall the people. Then Allah will raise from my progeny (from my Ahlul Bayt) a man who will fill the earth with equity and justice just as it would be filled with tyranny. Dwellers of heaven and earth will love him. Heaven will send down rain and the earth will give out (throw) its vegetation. He will live for 7 years.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: بلاءاً يصيب هذه الأمة حتي لا يجد الرجل ملجأ يلجأ إليه من الظلم فيبعث الله رجلا من عترتي يملأ الأرض قسطا و عدلا كما ملئت جورا وظلما، يرضي عنه ساكت السماء وساكن الأرض، لاتدع السماء من قطرها شيئا إلا صبته مدرارا، ولا تدع الأرض من نباتها شيئا إلا أخرجته، حتي يتمني الأحياء الأموات، يعيش في ذلك سبع سنين أو ثمان سنين

Hazrat Ali (as) said, Imam Mahdi will rule for 40 years.
عن علي عليه السلام: قال بلي المهدي (ع) الناس أربعين سنة

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, How it would be when the son of Maryan (Isa ibne Maryam) will descend and your Imam would be from among you?
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: كيف أنتم إذا نزل ابن مريم فيكم وإمامكم منكم؟

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Isa ibne Maryam will descend and the chief of that nation (Imam Mahdi) will say to him: Please come ahead and lead the prayer for us.
Hazrat Isa (as) will reply, No! You are leader for others.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: فينزل عيسي بن مريم عليه السلام فيقول أميرهم: تعالي صلي لنا فيقول: لا إن بعضكم علي بعض أمراء تكرمة الله هذا الأمة
Note : This tradition is also narrated in Sahih Muslim in the same way as it has been narrated in this book. According to this tradition, the belief of most of the people that the Imam in the previous tradition refers to the book of Allah (Holy Quran) is incorrect as it can be concluded from the present tradition that Hazrat Esa (as) will prefer the chief of Muslims to lead the prayer and he would be Imam Mahdi (as).

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, The Mahdi is from me. (He has) a broad forehead, prominent nose and will fill the earth with equity and justice as it will be filled with injustice. He will rule for 7 years.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: المهدي مني أجلي الجبهة أقني الأنف، يملأ الأرض قسطا وعدلا كما ملئت جورا و ظلما يملك سبع سنين

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Mahdi is the peacock of paradise.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: المهدي ظاءءس أهل الجنة

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, The Mahdi is from my progeny. His face is like the full moon, his colour is that of the Arabs, his body is like those of (Bani) Israel. He will fill the earth with justice as it will be filled with injustice. The dwellers of the skies and the earth will be happy with his kingdom. He will rule for 20 years.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: المهدي من ولدي وجهه يتلألأ كالقمر الدري، اللون لون عربي والجسم جسم اسرائيل يملأ الأرض عدلا كما ملئت جورا، يرضي بخلافته أهل السماوات والأرض والطير في الجو، يملك عشرون سنة

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, O Fatemah! Our prophet is the best of all prophets and he is your father. Our successor is the best of all successors and he is your husband. Our martyr is the best of all martyrs and he is Hamza, the uncle of your father. Our chiefs are the best of all chiefs and they are your sons, Hasan and Husain. From us is the Mahdi for this nation behind whom Isa will pray. Then the Holy Prophet (pbuh) placed his hand on Imam Husain (as) and said, He will be from the progeny of Husain.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: يا فاطمة! نبينا خير الأنبياء وهو أبوك، ووصينا خير الأوصياء وهو بعلك، وشهيدنا خير الشهداء وهو حمزة عم أبيك، ومنا سبطا هذه الأمة – وهما ابناك، ومنا مهدي الأمة الذي يصلي عيسي خلفه، ثم ضرب علي منكب الحسين (ع) فقال: من هذا مهدي الأمة

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, I give good news to you about Mahdi who will remove the disputes amongst the people and fill the earth with equity and justice as it would be filled with oppression and injustice. Dwellers of the heavens and the earth would be happy with him.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: ابسركم بالمهدي يبعث في امتي علي اختلاف من الناس وزلازل فيملأ الأرض قسطا وعدلا كما ملئت جورا وظلما يرضي عنه ساكن السماء و ساكن الأرض

Hazrat Ali (as) said, I asked the Holy Prophet(pbuh), Mahdi is from us or from another? The Holy Prophet (pbuh) replied, he is from us.
قلت يا رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: أمنا آل محمد المهدي أم من غيرنا؟ فقال رسول الله (ص): لا بل منا

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, “If there remains a single day from this world, Allah will lengthen that day so such an extent till a man from my Ahlulbayt appears whose name will be similar to that of my name. He will fill the earth with equity and justice as it would be filled with injustice. Allah will enliven His religion through him and will give him victory and there would not remain anybody in this world except that they would witness “There is no God except Allah”. Salman asked: Mahdi is from whose progeny? The Holy Prophet (pbuh) replied, Mahdi is from the progeny of Husain.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: لو لم يبق من الدنيا إلا يوم واحد لبعث الله فيه رجلا اسمه اسمي وخلقه خلقي يكني أبا عبد الله يبايع له الناس بين الركن والمقام، يرد الله به الدين ويفتع به فتوحا فلا يبقي علي ظهر الأرض إلا من يقول (لا إله إلا الله) فقال سلمان فقال: يا رسول الله من أي ولدك هو؟ قال: من ولد ابني هذا وضرب بيده علي الحسين (ع)

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, When Imam Mahdi will reappear, there will be a cloud over his head and an angel will proclaim, This is Mahdi, the Caliph of Allah. Then, you all follow him.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: يخرج المهدي علي رأسه غمامة فيها مناد ينادي: هذا المهدي خليفة الله فاتبعوه

Hazrat Ali (as) said, When an angel will announce from the heaven that truth is with Aal-e-Mohammed (the progeny of Mohd), the Mahdi will reappear.
قال علي عليه السلام: اذا نادي مناد من السماء أن الحق في آل محمد (ص) فعند ذالك يظهر المهدي عليه السلام

Hazrat Ali (as) said, Imam Mahdi (as) has a thick beard, crude eyes, bright chisel-teeth and a bright mole on the right cheek. He has the sign of prophethood on his shoulder and a flag which has not been fluttered since the death of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) and it will be fluttered at the time of reappearance of Imam Mahdi (AS). Allah will help him through 3,000 angels who will assist him against his enemies.
قال علي عليه السلام: كث اللحية، أكحل العينين، براق الثنايا، في وجهه خال أقني أجلي، في كتفه علامة النبي (ص)، رايته من مرط مخملة سوداء مربعة فيها جسم لم تنتشر مند توفي النبن (ص) ولا تنشر حتي يخرج المهدي عليه السلام يمده الله بثلاثة آلاف من الملائكة يضربون وجوه من خالفهم وأدبارهم

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, the Hour (Qiyamat) will not be established until a man from my progeny (Ahlul Bayt) will rule and conquer Constantinople. If a single day remains of this world, Allah will prolong that day to such an extent that he would conquer it.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: لا نقوم الساعة حتي يملك رجل من أهل بيتي يفتع القسكنكنية وجبل الديلم، ولو لم يبق إلا يوم اطوّل الله ذلك اليوم حتي يفتحهما

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, Mahdi is from my Ahlulbayt. He will reappear and fill the world with justice and equity just as it will be filled with injustice and tyranny.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: ثم يخرج المهدي من أهل بيتي يملأ الأرض عدلا كما ملئت جورا

The Holy Prophet (pbuh) said, My nation will enjoy such bounties at the time of Imam Mahdi (as) that no nation would have enjoyed. Heaven will pour down water and the earth will throw up all its vegetation and treasures. A person will come and ask, O Mahdi give me something. He would be given so much that he would not be able to carry it.
قال رسول صلي الله عليه وآله وسلم: تتنعم أمتي في زمن المهدي نعمة لم يتنعموا مثلها قط، ترسل السماء عليهم مدرارا، ولا تدع الأرض شيئا من نباتها إلا أخرجته، وامال كدوس يقوم الرجل فيقول يا مهدي اعطني فيقول: خذ
